Indianapolis, Ind. – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team has been selected to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championships for the fourth time and is the sixth seed in the NCAA Division II East Regional, as announced by the NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Committee on Sunday night on NCAA.com. The sixth-seeded Dolphins will face third-seeded University of the Sciences in the regional quarterfinals on Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University’s Stan Spirou Field House in Manchester, N.H.
Le Moyne is making its third straight regional appearance and advanced to the regional title game in 2019. The Dolphins and Devils have met three times previously with USciences holding a 2-1 advantage, while Le Moyne’s win came in the 2019 regional semifinals.
The remaining quarterfinal matchups in the East Region feature top-seeded Southern New Hampshire against eighth-seeded Daemen College, second-seeded Chestnut Hill College taking on seventh-seeded Pace University and fourth-seeded Jefferson facing fifth-seeded Bentley University. Bentley won its 21st Northeast-10 Conference championship, USciences won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship and Daemen claimed its second East Coast Conference title in three years. The Le Moyne-USciences winner will face the Chestnut Hill-Pace winner in the regional semifinals on Saturday, while the Southern New Hampshire-Daemen winner and the Jefferson-Bentley winner will square off in the other semifinal on Saturday. The semifinal winners will play for the regional championship on Monday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m.
Ticket and broadcast information will also be announced early in the week.
The Dolphins enter the tournament with a 17-7 record after advancing to the NE10 semifinals for the fifth straight season. The Dolphins went 14-5 in conference action for the second straight season. The Dolphins have played five games against the other teams selected to the regional and were 2-3 in those matchups. The Dolphins posted wins over Bentley and Pace and recorded losses to Southern New Hampshire, Bentley and Pace.
